For a while now, we've been chasing the ideal combination of reverb and digital delay effects for our vocals. The Fender PA system has very sweet reverb, but no delay. Adding that effect to the mix immediately raises the floor of the overall sound.
We think we've found what we've been looking for in the Mackie Pro-FX mixer with built-in effects. We run our vocals through this unit on their way to the PA, using its combination preset of reverb and delay. It just takes a touch of this effect combination--not so much as to call attention to itself--to have an immediate impact on sound quality.
